Astrid Lindgren’s land

Many visitors think Fagerhult looks like Noisy Village in the books by Astrid Lindgren. The real Noisy Village is called Pelarne and is situated outside the town of Vimmerby. In the city you can visit Astrid Lindgren’s World and the home of her childhood, Näs. It takes you about 30 minutes by to Vimmerby.

Kinda district offers you many nice places worth visiting, for example art galleries, handicraft, cultural and historical places and nature reserves.

Linköping, 80 kilometres, is the nearest bigger city. Here is the cathedral, arts and crafts shop Hemslöjden, a fantastic spot! Worth visiting is the regional art and historical museum Östergötlands Länsmusem, the old city Gamla Linköping with the science center Fenomenmagasinet and much more.

Where to buy…

The nearest well-stocked supermarket is in Horn, about 10 kilometres from Fagerhult.

In the closest village Hycklinge, 5 kilometres, you find Hycklinge Bensin & Service, where you can buy milk, bread, newspapers and candy. There you also can fill up the car and get it repaired.

Kisa is the central town of Kinda district. There you find three well-stocked supermarkets, shops for furniture, clothing and so on, the Swedish wines and spirits shop Systembolaget, drugstore, library, and a wonderful café called Columbia, where there also is an emigrant museum upstairs.

Also Vimmerby offers many shops, restaurants and service.
